Scrappy Jack : A Special Success

Scrappy Jack visited the St. James Girl Scout Troop who saved their change and donated to his medical care. In October, Scrappy was at RePets Rescue Center in Bowling Green being cared for. He was very sick, had a broken jaw, infected eye (that had to be removed), was anemic from flea bites, and has hip dysplasia. When he was first turned in, no one was sure if he would even survive. I had been invited to talk to the girls at their meeting about 'good pet care', the importance of making wise decisions about what kind of pet to get, quality foods, people food that is bad for their dogs, etc. The Girl Scouts had collected new beds, shampoo, bowls, toys, gently used blankets and towels, and saved their change for a month (to earn a badge). They donated all goods to RePets for the animals in the rescue, and the change for Scrappy Jack's vet bill. In emailing back and forth with the Director, she asked me if I would be interested in adopting him (and she wasn't taking applications for him yet)...so how could I say 'no'? :-) I picked him up the Friday before Thanksgiving, and he's settled right in with our little 'family'. The girls didn't know that I adopted him, and we surprised them at their meeting last night. I told them that they have "officially" done their first rescue! Scrappy had a 'thank you' note and photo for each girl.

A special Note from MAPR to Karen, REPETS, & The Girl Scouts :
