Muggins

Hi my name is Muggins, I am a senior boy who has had quite a ruff life. I am partially blind so the chances of me getting adopted at the shelter I was at were slim to none. But I was lucky; the folks at MAPR rescued me from the shelter I was at.

However, on my way home I started having seizures. So I spent my first weekend with MAPR in an Emergency Vets Office. I have since been moved to one of MAPR vets. They are still doing test to see why I am having these seizures. During some of the test they also discovered I have several types of worms.

I am not available for adoption just yet. But any help with my already high medical bills would be greatly appreciated.

10/19/2005 From the Foster Mom:
Muggins is still having seizures. At this point, we are hoping they are due to severe malnourishment and a tremendous worm infestation. He has started eating but its hard to see how with the condition of his mouth. He has been started on phenobarb, antibiotics and IV fluids. His foster mom is working very hard to get him healthy enough to see where the seizures are coming from.

He is also blind and quite old. Since he's from a shelter, we have no idea about his past, and from the records, he had been seizing in the shelter for 2 weeks before he came to us, with NO treatment!

Right now, he also has pneumonia, and the vet can barely hear his heart for the mucus in his lungs. So, at this point, they are scrambling to get him well enough to start breaking down the diagnosis.

Please check back soon for more updates.

10/22/2005: I just spoke with Muggins Foster Mom, poor Muggins went to the Rainbow Bridge this evening.

Even with all the phenobarb, they were never able to stop his seizures. The girls at the vet's office said he had a wonderful day, went out and enjoyed the sunshine, had a good lunch, and then just lay down and went to sleep. He passed away quietly.

I know that vet's office, and he wasn't alone for a moment. The girls loved and doted on him, and Robin spent countless hours loving on him, so he passed from this world knowing kindness and joy. We knew he was in terrible shape taking him in, but sometimes the best we can do is love them and show them grace as they pass.
